Imagine a show with only half the actors, lighting, costumes, and set.
That’s what would happen if the A.R.T. produced theater
funded solely by ticket revenue.
Like many performing arts organizations, the A.R.T. depends on contributions to present its award-winning productions—productions that strive to stimulate intellectual discourse and spark vibrant dialogue between artists and audiences. Donors play an integral role in making this work possible.
Your gift ensures the development and expansion of the A.R.T.’s unique, thought-provoking productions, innovative educational initiatives, and free and subsidizedprogramming for youth and underserved members of our community.
EXPANDING OUR REACH
The A.R.T. believes a great arts experience doesn’t begin and end at the theater door. In 2011/12, over 2,250 students and community members will participate in education and outreach activities such as in-depth residency programs and post-performance talk-backs with artists.
The centerpiece of our Community Education and Access Initiatives is a season-long partnership program with local schools and non-profit organizations in the Boston area. These collaborations provide a custom-built enrichment curriculum that ties each A.R.T. production to existing classroom activities or organizations’ missions.
This year, furthering our commitment to accessibility, the A.R.T. has added a select number of American Sign Language interpreted and audio-described performances for hearing and sight impaired audience members.
By working closely with organizations like the YWCA, Goddard House, The Boston Arts Academy, Artists for Humanity, Boston Learning Center, and Mssing Lnks, the A.R.T. continues to fulfill its mission to “expand the boundaries of theater” to all members of the community.
