The A.R.T. Institute Alumni Lab
Featured in the May/June issue of American Theatre Magazine
Established in 2007, the Alumni Lab is the artistic arm of the A.R.T. Institute Alumni Association. The Lab provides resources and funding to alumni and their collaborators to foster the creation, development, and presentation of theatrical and cinematic readings, workshops, and productions for the general public.
In 2009, the A.R.T. Institute Alumni Association Lab launched the Artist Grant Program, awarding funding to six alumni-led projects. The grants ranged from $1000 to $1500 and were used to cover various costs such as rehearsal space, artist fees, and marketing materials. The funding helped alumni increase their visibility in the dramatic arts community and foster collaboration with both established and emerging artists.
The Alumni Lab is pleased to announce the continuation of the Alumni Lab Grant program in 2010.
The Lab will once again award Alumni Artist Grants of up to $2,000 to support the development of new work including full-length original plays, adaptations, translations, musicals, solo plays, interdisciplinary theater projects, and film scripts.
The Project Initiator must be a graduate of the A.R.T. Institute and a member of the Alumni Association. The creative team, however, may include artists from any background. Recipients of Alumni Artist Grants must commit to a public reading or presentation of the work (or work-in-progress) between June 2010 and June 2011.
The deadline for applications is Monday, April 15, 2010. For guidelines and application, please see "downloads" at the bottom of this page.
